Things to be aware of when using the laboratory pH meter

(1) When using the instrument, prevent the instrument from contacting with humid gas for a long time. Immersion of moisture will reduce the insulation of the instrument, making it less sensitive, accurate, and stable.

(2) The glass film of the glass electrode ball is extremely thin and easily damaged. When using it in peacetime, avoid contact with hard objects and gently handle them.

(3) The glass film of the glass electrode should not be stained with oil. If it is accidentally stained with oil, it can be washed with carbon tetrachloride or * first, then with alcohol, and finally with distilled water. The grease film also affects the measurement of sensitive bulbs. To remove the film, rinse the sensitive bulb with a 75% alcohol solution, wipe dry with filter paper, rinse well with water, and immerse in distilled water for several hours.

(4) The presence of air bubbles in the potassium chloride solution of the calomel electrode is not allowed, and there is little crystallization to maintain saturation. If there is too much crystallization and the pores are clogged, it is best to add new saturated potassium chloride solution.

(5) If the pH meter reading is unstable and floats, consider replacing the electrode.

(6) If the measuring medium is a protein precipitate (such as milk, cheese, etc.), the electrode should be immersed in pepsin and hydrochloric acid solution after the measurement to eliminate the treatment; this solution is ready before use, and after use, the electrode is immersed in this The solution was left for a few hours and then rinsed with water and then immersed in distilled water for several hours.
